Whoa! I've Been BOSed!

Say what? Okay, I'll explain! I go on this one scrapbooking website a lot -- Two Peas in a Bucket. They have message boards where I get tons of advice and questions answered, and they also have a gallery where I can post my own work to get feedback or check out other people's work. Anyhow, there is a feature which used to be called the "Book of Scraps" -- anytime you liked someone's work and wanted to save it for future reference/inspiration, you could save it to your Book of Scraps or BOS. (It's now called Bookmarking, but everyone still refers to it as BOS.) Anyhow, I've recently started posting some of my work and for the first time, someone BOSed one of my projects! Woot woot! (It was the red, pink, and silver Valentine card below.) Wow, someone actually liked something made by little 'ole me? Cool beans! :-)

I Won, I Won!

Woo Hoo! I have never won ANY contest before, but things are about to change! In case you didn't read my post below, I entered a contest on Sheetload of Cards to win a set of Studio G clear stamps. To enter, you had to do certain things to promote their Ezine which is posted monthly on their blog. You could do a blog post, put up a blinkie, post on a message board, etc, and every time you did that, your name was entered. Well, after the deadline, it turned out that 50 people promoted the blog with 324 entries. From those 324 entries, five names were drawn. My name was one of the five! Woo hoo! Then, of the five, one was chosen for the main prize (which were the stamps) and that name was...(drum roll)...ME! I am so excited!

One thing that I think is interesting is that right now, I have been focusing more on positive thinking! I'm reading a book now about the Law of Attraction (kind of like The Secret) which basically says, you get what you ask for. If you put out a negative vibe and all you do is think about things or say things in a negative way, you are bringing more negativity in your life. If you put out a positive vibe and think and speak of yourself and your situation in more positive ways, more positive things will come your way. So normally for contests I've entered, I think, "Oh, I'm never going to win. I never win anything. Why'd I bother entering?" But instead, for the past two weeks, I've been thinking, "Lots of people win contests and I can too! This is my time!" Well it looks like it may have helped because I did win. :-)

While I've been thinking positively these past weeks about winning, I am still totally shocked to win and SO excited! WOO HOO! I can't wait to receive the stamps and do all sorts of fun things with them! ***Doing the happy dance!***

Oh, and by the way, even though I don't get any more entries into any contests for Sheetload, you should check them out. They just put up their new Ezine for the month of January. In case you haven't checked them out yet, every month they put out an Ezine with a card sketch and directions for how to make 6-12 cards at once. It's great way to get a lot of cards done in a short amount of time. And just think too, with all of the cards you can make in the short time, you can have more to donate to Cards for Heroes if you want! That's what I'll be doing. In fact, I better get going on getting that package together!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all are having a fantastic day. We had a very nice Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at my husband's family's house and had a huge gift exchange. Today, my husband and I exchanged gifts and just spent the rest of the day relaxing and playing with our new "toys"! My DH was excited to get some new computer games (which he actually bought online for himself and I just wrapped!) and a back massager. I got some super comfy clothes, fuzzy socks, a player for my iPod and scrapbook supplies! One scrapbook item I was really hoping for was a crop-o-dile. Check this thing out! It looks like a tool I'd find in my husband's tool box, except of course for the glaring pink handles! It's supposed to be for setting eyelets and snaps and is supposed to be super awesome! Anyhow, while my husband spent a good part of the day playing his new computer games, I played with my new Crop-o-dile and finished some cards I was making. Check them out!

The pink and green cards I made using the October sketch from Sheetload.

These next two I made using the November Sheetload sketch.

When I showed the cards to my husband, he said they were really nice. I asked him if he thought they were too "girly" though. I was concerned because I want to make some cards that can be sent to my uncles, brother, brother-in-laws, etc. He said that he thought they may be too girly so I started looking through my PP for some "man" paper. I asked him what I should look for and he said "Hmmm, man paper huh? ...Anything with beer, butts, or boobs." Yeah, I'm pretty I have none of that!

Next I want to start working on cards for Valentine's Day, but after going through all of my pictures from today and yesterday, I may not be able to get to them in awhile!

Tomorrow my husband and I will hit the "after Christmas" sales. I want to go to Joanns to get some holiday decorating stuff, and now more eyelets! We'll also hit Target just to see what they have. (Rumor has it that they have a ton of Valentine scrapbooking stuff in the Dollar Spot!) Who knows where else!

Well, I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday! Next, New Years!

Funky Flashback: Love Songs from the Movies

Well, it's time for my weekly 80s rewind. This week, the theme is "love songs from the movies". One of THE most memorable movie themes (at least for me) has to be "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin from of course, Top Gun. This was back before Tom Cruise got all weird.

The next movie theme comes from one of my favorite 80's movies, Dirty Dancing. I think I watched that movies at least 100 times! "Nobody put's baby in a corner!" Here's "She's Like the Wind" by Patrick Swayze. Who knew he could sing?

And to finish off this week, we have "St. Elmo's Fire" from the movie of the same name. Can you believe I have never seen this movie? Judging from the video, it looks like there were a lot of big names from that flick. Pretty funny. I may have to rent it! Either way, I do love the song -- it was almost our song at our wedding.

Now don't you just want to watch these movies all over again?!

Okay, any ideas for 80s song themes next week?
